TA Varsity Football: Homecoming Game

I was able to shoot the second half of the homecoming game against Scarborough last Saturday. This was more of a personal test than actual coverage. I wasn't sure if I was at a Division 1 game or a local high school game with all of the media coverage. There must have been close to 10 people shooting the game. This is part of the reason why I just haven't covered any of the varsity football games. I figure they get plenty of coverage as it is and is not really worth my time. So, for me it's just a matter of attaining the experience and bettering myself. A little self serving, maybe. If I want to be the best that I possibly can be and keep improving then I need to be out there shooting and not in front of the computer or tv.

I chose to break the #1 rule and shoot into the sun rather than with it on my back. This meant I would be shooting into the shadows rather than the sunlit faces. I did this for a couple of reasons. The first reason was to get away from the hoard of photogs on the home sideline. The best way to separate my stuff from theirs in my mind is to get a totally different angle than them. If they're all in the same area on the same side of the field, guess what? They're all getting roughly the same shots from the same spot. I really don't see the point in that. Secondly, I wanted to shoot into the packed stands rather than the not so full side for a better atmosphere in my images.

There's only one game remaining then it's off to the playoffs. Chances are I'll try to gain some more experience and see how things go. If not, no time has been lost.

You guys really don't care about any of this, do you? Chances are you're not even reading it! Oh well...onto the images.
