I really had no intention of shooting the winter gym sports. I had a feeling that my intended level of quality would not be met. Well, it turns out I was right. I kid you not when I say that Hill Stadium has better lighting than the gym does. Not only is it dimly lit, but the color shifts are crazy. As a spectator or player this doesn't translate into much I'm sure, but for a photographer it can be a nightmare. The easiest way to defeat this would be to setup some strobes, but I don't foresee the people in charge going for that. I also don't see it being worth the effort as I doubt there is any interest in this stuff anyway.
Needless to say I'm really not happy with this set but it is what it is. Now, I could take on the challenge and try my best to conquer it or I could just go as planned and not shoot it. I like to think that my fall images improved as I progressed and that the same would take place here, but no guarantees. On the other hand, from what I've read in forums people in general don't show much interest in this stuff anyway (feel free to convince me otherwise). So, that's where I am at the moment. I already know it's not worth my time but is it worth the experience? Hmmm....
I've included some of the JV & Varsity games here so this post is much longer than usual.
these are pretty sick pictures of Deering and T.A.
