Going Christmas shopping without having any ideas in mind; without having someone there to feed you ideas is equivalent to heading out fishing in the hot mid day July heat. It's just a waste of time. The perfect gift, the lunker of a bass....they're just not going to find their way into your cart or into your boat.
Lucky for me I had the cure for shoppers block and had other plans in mind. Call it stress relief if you will; a much better use of my time. I had some camera gear, and a lighting fetish to satisfy. With all of the sparkling decorations to be seen, this was going to be a fairly easy task and one that I would enjoy much more than wandering around endlessly in search of the perfect gift.
Here's the tree and surrounding area at L.L. Bean. The tree is a good size and is stuffed with a fair amount of lights. You'll also notice that it's filled with lanterns as well.
The lighting on this doorway is what attracted me to it. It's actually lit pretty well. It's not a large space, but instead of just throwing one fixture on it they did the right thing and put three fixtures on it. The fixtures chosen do a nice job of not just washing the wall evenly, but showcasing the texture of the brick wall. The vibrant color of the bricks along with the texture of the nicely lit wall really make it pop. I also like the blend of modern brushed aluminum along with the classic brick stone.
