Eric gave me a ring at about 6:30am yesterday saying that he'd be riding through Saco shortly so that we could meet up for a mini shoot. The spot I had in mind was better suited for a late afternoon with a nice sunset. That obviously wasn't going to happen at that time but I figured I'd give it a go anyway. Well, it didn't turn out so well. The sun was at my back and casting some harsh shadows onto my subject. He couldn't stay stationary for long due to being mid ride so it was a quick setup, with very little adjustmenting. We chose to ditch the lighting and do some in motion shots before he took off into the wind. We'll have to give it another try in better conditions with more time.
Since it was still early I drove out to Camp Ellis to see if anything caught my eye there. There wasn't a cloud to be found and it was uninspiring. Not wanting it to be a wasted trip, I decided to throw some light onto this shack to bring it out of the shadows and to underexpose the sky.
I love the seagulls in this one:
