Blur II

I had the opportunity to try something different again yesterday. This meant getting up bright and early on a Sunday morning....not exactly my favorite thing to do. It's not very often that you get the chance to photograph professional cyclists at speeds of around 40mph though. So, Caitlyn and I pulled ourselves out of bed at close to 7am and headed out the door to the Yarmouth Clam Festival Bike Race. You're asking yourself....why would Caitlyn want to participate in such madness? The answer: MUFFINS! She loves muffins and I think this proves that she'll pretty much do anything to sink her teeth into one. Be sure to store that in your memory banks.

My goals for this experience were: motion blur the background and also the spokes in the wheels while having the cyclist and bike sharp. This is to give the sense of the speeds that are reached by the cyclists. I also wanted the vibrant colors of their jerseys and bikes to pop.

I chose an incline portion of the race so that they wouldn't be at full speed and also to capture the emotion in their faces as they make their way up the incline. It was a beautiful morning and we both enjoyed it.

There are a few more here if you're at all interested.
